My Paint-by-Number Adventure: Days 13-15

Things are really coming along, and while it’s looking almost done, I am not looking forward to what’s left. It’s mostly a lot of the tiniest cells—all clustered together—left to paint. They are so small that, on some cells, you cannot make out the numbers, even with a magnifying glass at 4.5x magnification. Others cells have no numbers, but in those cases, I just pick my own color.

Close up you can also see the effects of my tremor.

Yesterday, I painted for about four hours straight and got a lot accomplished because my tremor was absent. I was amazed by how easy it was to paint when I wasn’t shaking. But I did have a new problem: many of my paints are getting dried out. And although I add water, it seems like the paint is either still too clumpy or it’s too watery. I’m having trouble finding that sweet spot where the paint spreads nicely.

Despite the fact that I can see every little flaw, overall I’m happy with my painting. I especially love all of the cheerful colors. I’m also glad that I didn’t give up like I thought I would. I’ve really enjoyed having this to work on. I keep everything on the table ready to go. So, whenever I get the urge to paint, everything is there waiting for me.

I’ll be both relieved & sad when I finally finish. My other kit is coming from China, so it may take a while. Speaking of my next kit, I also ordered a third kit because, after I placed my order, they offered me 30% off another purchase. The third will probably be the last one because I haven’t come across any other kits that I like. Plus, I have limited wall space. My next two paint-by-numbers will hang in the second bathroom. They’ll go perfectly with my colorful boho shower curtain.
